How to use PDF to OpenDocument

    1. Choose a PDF with selectable text. Scanned PDFs require OCR first.
    2. Choose ODT, ODS, ODP or ODF using the format choices. Read the output limitation before converting.
    3. Inspect the extracted text, download and review it in your office application.

Choose a container for extracted PDF text

ODT creates text paragraphs suitable for further editing. ODS creates one worksheet per PDF page, with each extracted line in a single text cell. ODP creates one basic text slide per page. ODF stores the extracted text as MathML text rows.

    Extraction is not source-document reconstruction

A PDF records how a page is drawn, not necessarily the original document structure. This tool does not recover spreadsheet columns, calculations, slide design or structured equations. ODF output uses plain mtext, so it is not a mathematical recognition tool.

    Digital text and reading order

Use PDFs with selectable text. Scans need OCR, which is not included. Fonts, columns and PDF drawing order can affect extraction. Check the preview and open the downloaded file in your office application before sharing.

    About this tool

Which OpenDocument formats can I download?

ODT paragraphs, ODS text worksheets, ODP text slides and ODF plain MathML text rows. ODS and ODP keep one container per PDF page.

Can PDF to ODS recover tables and formulas?

No. Each extracted line becomes a text cell in one column. Original table structure, data types and spreadsheet calculations are not inferred.

Does PDF to ODF recognize mathematical equations?

No. The ODF package contains plain MathML mtext rows. It does not recover fractions, superscripts or editable equation semantics from PDF text.

Can I convert a scanned PDF?

No. This tool requires digital selectable text and includes no OCR. An image-only PDF reports an error rather than producing an empty document.

Do PDF files leave my device?

No. Text extraction and OpenDocument ZIP packaging happen in your browser. Limits are 25 MB, 300 pages and 500,000 extracted characters.
